There are still plenty of emissions produced in producing that electricity at the moment, mainly due to our unwillingness to follow in the footsteps of the French and expand nuclear (which they use to produce 80% of theirs.)
No doubt. Very interesting facts about France. We need to get with the program.

Next up are electric charge stations at every corner.

We could then convert the existing coal we currently use to produce half of our electricity to gasoline or export it. Win win.

I think we'll eventually develop something that will charge as quickly as a capacitor, so we can replenish them the way we fill our cars at gas stations. Apparently the Tesla S can recharge in only an hour with the right equipment, but that's still a pretty long wait somewhere.

Car looks awesome but is way overpriced, just like any electric (and some hybrids)

If you're mission is to save money, its not the car for you

Good idea if they can wrap their heads around it. But there are always a few who think they have better ideas. More costly in the end.

An hour? That's a long wait, especially if you have to drive the kids to school or going to work. I guess they'll be creating a self-charge battery if they haven't already.

This is an interesting quote from the Tesla Motors site:

"Gasoline-powered vehicles and hybrids burn refined petroleum. Tesla vehicles can use electricity however it is produced, be it from coal, solar, hydro, geothermal, or wind power. As the grid shifts to increasingly efficient technologies, Tesla owners reap the efficiency benefits."

No mention about cost savings, though.

Unfortunately our energy policy is influenced in large part by lobbyists (or politics) and not always determined by what's cheaper, more efficient or emits the fewest emissions.

Well they work fine for commuting and running errands. But long trips have to be carefully planned or aren't yet feasible.

Not sold on the Price for Distance theme.... but that is a sick looking car and the electronics in there are making my mouth water.

Oh, absolutely. Some of the better cost saving ideas are pushed under a rug in the name of politics. I agree.

                  That's right.

Here's something to get you drooling if you're in the need for speed ...

                    From the Tesla site:

                    THE 21ST CENTURY POWERTRAIN

"Tesla’s advanced electric powertrain delivers exhilarating performance. Unlike the internal combustion engine with hundreds of moving pieces that spark, pump, belch, and groan, the Tesla motor has only one moving piece: the rotor.

As a result, Model S acceleration is instantaneous, like flipping a switch.

Hit the accelerator. In 5.6 seconds, Model S is traveling 60 miles per hour, without hesitation and without a drop of gasoline."

Model X is designed to offer ultimate utility in a tight, efficient package.
From every angle, Model X is as big on style as it is on function.

                      WHOA.

Falcon Wings. Calling them doors would be an understatement. While earning serious style points, they’re functional first. Falcon Wings open up and out of the way, in even the narrowest of parking spots. You easily step, not climb, into Model X.
