Boxing fans are the most unforgiving fans in all sports
If anyone isn't perfect or doesn't bring a performance that brings us to tears, they're automatically bums and garbage, and arent worth anybody's time.
I have never seen a sport where the fans have such unrealistic expectations.
Everyone who's ever competed or had to be in a situation where you have to constantly perform at your best knows, that some days you just cant perform the way you want to, the way you know you can, and no matter how dig you deep, you just fall short.
Boxers are no different. Good preparation helps but it doesn't make anyone immune.

I don't know bout that. There is a certain fighter that can continue to hold down the top pfp spot by beating a shot cheater, a shot hasbeen & arguably losing to a lightweight at a mannyweight off 144. That's about a forgiving as you can get in any sport right there.
