Default Supplements/enhancers??

Hey guys,

So I've started boxing, 2 sessions in and I'm loving it. Bloomin hard work but it needs to be if I want to compete (and win) this time next year.
Question for you guys though. Back in '09 I wanted to put some muscle mass on so I started mashing the weights and also started using CREATINE.
I probably used it for a year, maybe a few months more. My question is though, do you recommend I start using that now to help with muscle in boxing or is there just as much benefit in keeping it natural?
And also, what's your take on CREATINE anyway?! Do you guys class that as a bad thing to be taking or is it just classed as a natural product like Protein/Whey protein shakes et al
Let me know what you think, especially with regards to me using it during training.

most people that will talk to you about creatine on this site will say it's bad and makes you retain water. Old mono creatine will do that. The new science breakthroughs and the newer creatine that is out now, they don't do that.

Creatine isn't bad to take. As it is naturally occurring in the meat you eat. It does need to be cycled though. Whatever it states on your product box/container that is how it should be cycled.

It's up to you really. Training will build muscle either way. Creatine aids in keeping the lactic acid off your muscles so you can train longer which the results are obvious. I personally see it like this, there is an old fashioned way and there is a modern way. You can build muscle faster with the creatine rather than just eating chicken, fish, and vegetables etc. That is why scientists looked into the stuff in the first place and is why bodybuilders use it.

You have to drink a shyt load of water though. I have used MRI CE2 Hi-def for some time and I never had any of the effects you will hear from posters on this board and didn't get bulky either. Quite frankly, I don't think they even use supplements as most will refer to the old fashion way of doing things.

creatine does one thing and one thing only: aids in water retention. That said it will make your muscles bigger (from water retention) making you heavier but also aiding in recovery as above poster said. The thing with creatine is once you're off it you will lose about 10 lbs of water and you'll shrink a bit. The idea is to be bigger when you're off it than you were before you started using it. I've personally used it and it helped me in bodybuilding but the extra weight and bigger muscles wont help you in boxing

I would just recommend lots of protein and working out more if you want to get bigger.

Creatine isn't really for recovery though. It's just kinda a fuel for your muscles. For recovery and what is more essential than Creatine is Glutamine. Read up on it's benefits. Glutamine is actually produced in the muscles, skeleton. It aids recovery so good taken after workouts and on off days when you feel the soreness. I don't really care so much for creatine. Even with protein shakes, only really have it after a work out, and not perpetually drinking the stuff. Just prefer to get protein from foods. Don't underestimate what you can get from whole foods. It's not lots of protein that will build muscle mass, just repair the muscle you damage during the workout. If you want mass you just gotta use more resistance. that can be machines, free weights, whatever and up the calories.

Good statement there.

Imo boxing is plagued by being behind in the times. There are too many old school trainers who believe what they are doing is correct and are too stubborn to try other more effective methods.
