Ajose Olusegun looking to step in line for Khan v Bradley winner
“Smokin Joe” has Chebah hurdle to world title shot
British-based Nigerian light-welterweight Ajose Olusegun (29-0, 14 KO’s) will face Canadian-based Frenchman Ali Chebah (35-1, 28 KO’s) in Algeria tonight as he looks to become the first in line to face the winner of the Amir Khan v Timothy Bradley unification bout and get his shot in the autumn (Fall).
The WBC 140lb eliminator, which was originally scheduled to be staged at the end of last year, takes place on neutral soil in Alger, Algeria, although former WBC Youth champion Chebah, 25 has links to the country and has fought numerous times there, including his last four fights.
31 year-old Olusegun has fought most of his fights in the UK and can boast numerous titles, including, the Nigerian, African, British and Commonwealth light-welterweight titles. The Kentish Town resident, who now holds a British passport, has been patiently waiting his title chance and could set up an all-British super-fight with Amir Khan if he can defeat the younger fighter.
