Hard fight. Very hard for both guys and don't be mad Joey, there is no way Monzon is stopping McCallum. Who stopped him or got close that made you think he was vulnerable in his prime?
Not only that but he presents a very different look to many of his other opponents. How well does his stamina hold up under one of the best body attacks we've ever seen? They both faced highly skilled and various styles of opponents but I think McCallum saw a greater array of talent than Monzon did.
Pure super puncher: Julian Jackson
Pure classic boxer: Sumbu Kalambay
Aggressive counter puncher/boxer: James Toney
Freak talent: Roy Jones
Swarmer brawler: Steve Collins
Awkward defensive whiz: Herol Graham
.....and on and on....
I'd say it goes to a SD win for Monzon which many still debate to this day.
