Default Fitness tips,

I dont box but i play soccer and hurling(irish sport) and i find myself to be very unfit.
Ive been training hard for 2months(but ive been keeping active for most of the year but my training for hurling just recently startd) and it seems that i havent gained any fitness and dont feel physically tired just out of breath when i sprint for a bit. Now im not the fastest, im 6'4 around 175lbs im in somewhat good shape.
Any tips on how to gain fitness i dont really go to the gym, and i dont eat the most healthiest thingsso can anyon maybe give a few things maybe i could just to maybe get fitter
Thanks

If you're playing soccer regularly then I doubt you're very unfit. At 6'4 you're tall for 175lbs, so you surely can't be overweight. Everybody gets out of breath after sprinting, it's just that the fitter you are, the faster you recover. I'd recommend doing some extra cardio exercise a few nights per week to improve your fitness if it's really bothering you.

Although, by "get fitter", do you mean "get a six pack"? If getting toned is what you're really after then a good diet is the key. So it's your eating, not your exercise that's letting you down in that regard.

No not a six pack just to keep my fitness up, like i can run longer without getting outta breath, my diet aint the best i eat fast foods 1or 2 times a week and drink a lot of fizzy drinks, im not overweight. I just kinda wanna be able to be physically fit i dont care about being toned just physically so i can run without being outta breath after 5mins of running

HIIT is probably best .Rosstraining is good because it's all about intensity .How to get your heart rate up fast .This is by far the best fitness book i've ever bought
[Link View Has Been Removed. Click Here To Unlock This Content.]
This tells you how to do conditioning drills proper .There's hundereds of workouts you can do man .HIIT only instead of running you could jumprope, do punch-outs on a bag or shadow box , burpees .Make a circuit for youself and race on it .Reps don't have to be perfect for conditioning it's speed like just over 3 quarter reps .You should buy full throttle conditioning .Make a challenging workout and time yourself to finish and once it gets easy cut recovery time between set like to 30 or 15 secs .Example workout
12 burpees .Burpees are as intense as you make them .The proper way to execute it is full sprint , explode on push up full speed and jump as as you can with max effort
10 squat jumps
10 push ups
20 jumping jacks
Do 10 rounds
rest 30 seconds in between sets race through .The only exercise that has to be full rep is burpees I think .The rest work on speed .Time yourself .Burpees get you fit as f--k supposidley

In addition to any advice some others might bring to you, always remember small things add up to big things. In terms of nutrition, some of the stuff you can do to help keep fit, you would never think of. Such as using paper plates to eat on, that by itself seems weird until you note the fact that paper plates usually absorb some of the grease or oil of anything you might be eating (assuming your food intake is somewhat poor).

Other things that I can think of off the top of my head are:

- If you feel hungry, brush your teeth and use mouthwash. Your body will have a natural impulse to preserve the cleanliness of your mouth after and will mentally make you feel less hungry.

- Cut sodas totally out of the picture. Often times sodas can be replaced by whole meals in terms of caloric or sugar value. Sodas are what I call "wasted calories".

- Use smaller plates or bowls. This tricks your mind into thinking you're eating more than you are, and makes you feel fuller faster.

- Don't eat within three or four hours of going to bed.

- Drink lots and lots of water.

- Spread your food intake out over a day. Say, five or six meals a few hours apart from each other rather than two or three large ones throughout the day.

- Don't combine sugary things with fatty things. This means don't eat pizza and then top it off with ice cream or cookies. In other words, no sugary deserts unless they're by themselves.

And probably the most important thing: Only eat when you're hungry. Sometimes you'll find yourself eating when you're bored or stressed, which is not when food should be eaten. Before you eat, ask yourself "Am I really hungry?" If you answer honestly, more often than not, the answer will be no.

That's all I can think of. May not seem totally useful, but I lost close to 60 pounds over four months in 2007 just by little things like that. You can use certain things like I mentioned to help you get or stay in shape, although at 6'4" and 175, it sounds like you're thin as a rail. Good luck.

where ye from in ireland mate? i do interval training twice a week play football for 60 mins once a week and then do i long slog of a run or a spin class. what i mean by interval is i do sprints on machines ie treadmill and walk for 30secs sprint for 1min then walk again. iv started doing circut training recently tho and its great! i skip for 1min,do lungs, box jumps, shoulder press, bicep curl, then break for a min and do it all over again! i find it great for getting fit and losing weight plus it is something different then just running or cycling all the time
