After reading the new book on harry greb it eally opened by eyes, he was not a big drinker and was a bit of a gym rat, and would un up to ten miles most days, maybe thats how he got that insane cardio

I think most of the old timers of championship caliber ran up to 10 miles, since they could have to fight up to 45 rounds.
