Default James Warring: The Closest MMA Got To Having A Quality Boxer

For years, one of the most asked questions ever asked among MMA fans was "When Is A Quality Boxer Going To Try MMA?", well this already had an answer sort of.....

James Warring, a former IBF Cruiserweight Champion from 7 July 1991 to 30 July 1992, who was also a multi-time Kickboxing champion has competed in three MMA bouts at a tournament for World Combat Championship on October 17 1995, he won the first 2 bouts to reach the finals, only to lose to BBJ expert and MMA veteran, Renzo Gracie:

Warring beat Eric Paulson, who was a top quality MMA fighter back then. He could've been a quality MMA fighter if he was younger and trained in some grappling skills, he already had a great boxing background. He entered in several kickboxing bouts so that's a plus.

Who knows maybe someday, a top quality boxer might be interested in giving MMA a try but for now, James Warring fits the bill.

Paulson was overrated. He had a huge skill set but never fought anyone decent until he met Carlos Newton. Plus he was one of those fighters that had the tools but didn't have to ability to bring them all together like a GSP does. Plus when he fought Warring, he was outweighed by 40lbs and only lost because his corner pulled him out.

Although he proven to be a better trainer than fellow veterans like Bas Rutten because unlike other veterans, Paulson actually updates his game to train up and comers.

And is is closely affiliated with the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy that produced fighters like Sean Sherk and Brock Lesnar (yes, I know I don't think Brock deserved his title shot either but I believe he has tons of potential)

To be fair, he beat 2 other guys to reach the finals, striking his first opponent to submition as someone said an all around boxer has a better chance winning an MMA bout than an all around grappler winning a Boxing bout.
