Default Is it okay to lose in the amatuers?

Any thoughts?

IMO, as long as you don't have a fcuked up record and you train and fight hard, i think it'll be aiite.

How do you guys recover from a loss? Or how do you gain from a victory? Regardless, win like a man; lose like a man.

I had a Record of 77w 11L 57 KO . I was distilled in me early on that losing was part of learning, thats why im in the amateurs. its different when you turn pro. I was in the amateurs for 6yrs and won golden gloves in 87, just look at them as learning points in the sport and capitalize on the them

I have yet to face defeat so I dont know. I know that getting your hand raised is the best feeling on earth. I can imagine losing would feel the exact oposite.

I've lost twice in seven fights, and it's definitely true what they say that you learn more from a loss than you do from a win.

When I started I went for the knockout with every punch, and it worked. I won my first two fights by quick stoppages. In my third fight I followed the same strategy. I landed a big right hand in the first 20 seconds that got my opponent an 8 count, but he recovered. I kept throwing hard and tired myself out midway through the second round. I lost a close decision.

So in my next fight I focused on being more relaxed, and setting up my power shots instead of just blasting away. I controlled the entire fight and won a decision. I was exhausted at the end of it, but I fought at a good pace the entire fight instead of going crazy for the first round and being dead when I don't get the KO.

Nice record mate, props to you... and congrats on the achievement on winning Golden Gloves in 1987, seriously... I would be extremely proud if I did that.

My advice would be to learn from your mistakes and move on and come back stronger mate, I have only been going Boxing for 4 weeks so I can't give you a load of advice but I can would say that is the best way to go about it. I am hoping to maybe fight in the amateurs sometime in the future (just taking one step at a time at the moment... seeing how things go, though I am really enjoying Boxing and am determined to carry on).

Hope I helped mate!

You can be 0-99 in the amateurs it doesn't make a difference... It all matters when you step into the Pros

There's no shame in losing, as long as you don't give up.

Librado Andrade lost something like 16 of his 20 amateur fights (you'll hear different numbers given at different times), and then won I think 24 straight pro fights until he fought Kessler.
