Default Need Help On: Rushers, Kamikazes, and Pure Suicide Fighters.

The official term, "in-fighter" comes to my mind instantly when i think of shorter fighters (shorter then me hopefully). I'm 5'8-9ish, i weigh about 170 and trying to lose some more weight over time. I always hear about taller fighters being more of a out-fighter, my arm length decent long but i'll get to that later.

I just saw a fight recently and u could call the people who were fighting "in-fighters", i call them Suicide Fighters because they're just swinging wildly lol, u guys get the point lol u probably seen bunch of school fights.

I been training on and off for about 3 months (school work and etc), i got some punches down, still trying to perfect the 1-2's, but other then that im still training (self-taught sort of).

So one day when i was shadow boxing, i try to put my self in that fight situation. A guy (just say he like 5'2-5 for now), u can call him a in-fighter for now.

I can imagine him just rushing forward at me swinging left and right like crazy, but sort of accurate, but being self taught and a few months of training so far i had no idea what to do (this is still shadow boxing but i gotta imagine stuff like that lol).

So i was just wondering if u guys got any tips on how to counter-rush a "in-fighter" or just take control of some1 who likes to rush or just swing wildy in fights.

Or if u ever gotten in a fight where a guy just rushes you the whole time, please tell me ur story and how u won (if u didn't make it sound like u did).

footwork, brawlers tend to throw more power punches as well so they'll tire pretty easily. develop ur footwork and use ur jab to keep ur distance then wear em down in the later rounds. focusing on their body in the earlier rounds will also wear em down.

once u got the basics on lockdown practice rolling punches. jus dun get into the habit of ONLY rolling punches, head movement and footwork r still crucial to a solid defense.

I have a fighter like that In my gym that I spar with from time to time. Footwork, head movement, staying off the ropes, and popping my jab works well. I just recently started trying some new stuff after watching the Mosely Margarito fight. When the fighter gets close instead of sitting there in your guard allowing him to throw shots, simply clinch and turn him so that way you have space to maneuver else where. Good luck

there's a guy, about 14, at my gym that fights like that and most of the time if you come foreward and land a good shot on him he'll take his foot off the gas a little.
