thai is cool, but i really have an appreciation for old school thai boxing. like the **** taught before it became just a element of mma gyms.

it used to be more discipline ans less sport it seems. the sport part was only used to test if i a right.

i know old chinese arts used sport like matches as well as more serious matches. many great fights were done in private to save face. that way, the winner knws he has the skills, and the loser learns something about where he is at and doesn't have to worry about people talking.

This is a really nice site... I can't believe it's only one month old!
One to watch certainly...

With regard to muay thai being less of an art, and more of a sport, this is only true in mma gyms. Any decent muay thai school, though they will focus on the basics at first, tend to teach techniques little seen in competition nowadays to their more advanced practitioners.

Incidentally, there is an article on muaythai.me which focusses on the misconceptions about muay thai, and the blurred boundaries between art and sport. It was the first time I read anything quite like that, and I was quite impressed by it... Anyone knows who Shu lien, the author, is? He/she sounds like a very learned person: [Link View Has Been Removed. Click Here To Unlock This Content.]
