Default Takedowns

What are some good takedowns? I don't care if they're leg sweeps, throws, tackles...

I always like taking people down from the clinch or a head and arm takedown, pretty much just taking a headlock and hip throwing them. Its either that or a double leg.....

With the Gi i have 3 I like to use. The outside single, an outside foot sweep and an inside foot sweep/hip toss. No gi I either use the outside single, double leg, or if the guy is a wrestler I sit guard like a champ

It epends if we are talking gi, no gi, or MMA.

For gi I'll try any take down, but I"m solid with a inside leg trip, out side leg trip, ouchi, and tomo nage.

No gi, double leg, outside single, and outside leg trip/ latteral drop.

MMA is a bit more complicated but usually I will work on a outside leg trip from the clinch, inside leg trip, or if pinned against the wall/ropes/cage I'll push hard with the soulder to drop for a leg and have the single leg.

Alright cool. I'm trying to get some takedowns to work on with my sparring buddies. I've got my amateur MMA debut in pancrase in October. My takedown arsenal is pretty small. I can do a few variations of the hip toss, a double leg, single leg, and a couple leg sweeps. But I need more.

from Gi I would say Uchi Mata. But everyone should have drop seonagi in their arsenal. These are very common throws.

No Gi you should work the double leg hard. Its the stem of all outside takedowns. You want a good drive to knock your opponent of balance. Thats how wrestlers get the best takedowns.

Then work your pummeling for clinch takedowns. Also, it helps for MMA by nutrilizing your opponents striking range.

Work them all with sparring.

That'll be my original game plan, but I want to know how to take someone out of their game. If I fight a Muay Thai fighter, I'm taking him down.
