Default defencive drills

could someone please give me some good tips and drills to get a really tight defence

all im doing at the moment is a floyd mayweather style defence where my trainer throws punches at me with the pads and i block

I wouldnt start out trying to learn Floyd's style defense...you should start more basic. Shadowboxing is a good way to practice defense. Imagine your opponent throwing punches while slipping, blocking, side-stepping, etc. Working with an opponent is prolly one of the better drills you can do. Have ur partner throw jobs with you slipping and then switch. There are tons of drills you can do with an opponent.
