Default Hand Problems

Hey guys,

I've been plagued over the last 2 years with hand problems resulting from boxing, everytime i get close to a fight they become injured and i have to pull out, very frustrating after the work.

The pain always comes from punches, and it hurts my thumbs in both my hands, which in turn spreads throughout my whole wrists. And my thumbs become so sore i cant even bunch a fist with them.

After I rest them for a while ice etc and i try spar or whatever again, they always bust, with no warning coming.

I have tried different physios, resting them for months on end, wrapping up my hands differently, punching lighter, trying exercises with them, ive pretty much done everything except operation.

Is there anything out there that coul dhelp strengthen my hands? Call for help here..

Thanks

what part of your thumbs hurt?

it good be the gloves you use. there are many gloves for different types of hands.

You know the two main joints in your thumb? It's the one that joins to your hand/palm, not the top one that just bends your fingernail

Dude that sucks, I don't know if this will help you but I would go 1 round a day on the bag on the first week, 2 a day on the 2nd, 3 rounds on the third, etc...until I went to 15. WHat are you doing in your workout? Whatever you do don't work through the pain.

I generally run early morning, with around 30 minutes skipping. i do more skipping normally then bag work. I only do 6 rounds of bag work a day, normally with 2 rounds of sparring. but i also hit the bag as hard and fast as i can for a minute twice.

Other exercises too. I try to do more skipping, to lessen the strain on my hands. I was thinking of squezzing a tennis ball, would that help?

is it around this area?

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2.../thumbpain.jpg

that's where i get pain when using everlast pro training gloves, but i dont get that pain when using ringside imf tech training gloves.

are there certain gloves that cause that pain? or all of the ones you tried?

Exactly the spot. Although it may hurt in other places, thats the place it hurts the most and the origin of the pain.

I train 6+ days a week. I have tried both everlast gloves as well as some sma gloves we use here. I cant really afford to get more gloves.

I have tried technique im punching in. Ive rested for 6 months just shadow sparred and then they just busted again I don't know what to do now. Maybe I should post a picture of my hands, they are quite small and out of my proprtion for my build I guess

you should try every pair of glove you can get your hands on. even the sweaty/dirty worn ones in the gym, just to see which one works for you, so you can buy the same brand/type glove that you tried.

but, new gloves always need break-in time. how many ounces are the gloves you are using?
