Actually Inoki was swinging against Ali. Watch the fight. Why would they allow Inoki to swing without gloves? Either all staged or weird...

Like in MMA or K1 you're not allowed to kick a man while he is down, on the canvas. Ali was not allowed to strike Inoki while in canvas grappling position.

In all likelihood Ali vs Inoki was all staged and prerehearsed, which led to the influence of WWF commercial wrestling in the 80s.
