  • Skilled boxers embarrassing their opponent into quitting.

We've seen this more and more lately. What do you make of it? To be honest I think it would be good for the sport for more trainers to consider pulling their fighter out of a fight when it's obvious they are outclassed. Is it really worth surviving to the final bell, if it means looking like a total ballbag, ala Jeff Lacy or David Lemieux? In Lacy's case he also lost his soul. Would it have prolonged his career at the top if he'd been pulled out after 7 or 8 rounds?

It is better to quit early and prevent possible permanent damage if you are outclasse

It is better to quit early and prevent possible permanent injuries, or fatal injuries, if you are totally outclassed and couldn't possibly gain anything by trying to go the distance.

I think they need to keep fighting.
At least try to improve and win a round.
Look what happened to Rigo when he quit he got massacred by the fans and media.
