  • US man has 27 degrees!

    http://www.mlive.com/news/kalamazoo/...nd_counti.html

"KALAMAZOO -- You might say Michael Nicholson has a passion for learning.
The 67-year-old Kalamazoo retiree has amassed 27 college degrees since 1963, and he's not done yet.
He started with a bachelor's degree in religious education at William Tyndale College in Detroit. That led to a master's degree in theology at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Since then, he has earned two associate's degrees, 19 master's degrees, three specialist's degrees and one doctoral degree."

God damn! I was in 2 minds about starting a 2nd masters next Fall, but this dude has me (and everyone else!) easily beat!

At a certain point there becomes a great deal of overlap, both between potential subject matter and credit (at the graduate level).

      He now has 29!

His CV must be like a pamphlet - 20 pages thick! And his titled name must be like 200 characters long with all those honours after it.

Ultimately publications are all that really matter for a CV.

In academe, yes. But in the commercial world, no. I was a PhD student for 2 years, but dropped out in March 2012. Will get 2nd MA soonish - maybe next couple of years. This man is an inspiration.

In the commercial world degrees are not particularly highly valued. Experience and results are.

I have a cousin that's a Professional student, she doesn't feel right unless she's in school.

This guy is an inspiration, for those that never want to stop learning. Wish there were a few million more on the planet just like him.
