        It was a custom job that someone created for me, because I didn't want to make a hole in my ceiling

            Placement. I can't find anything to hang it on or anchors that stop it from falling off

                Buy your self a stud sensor.
                Then I just got one of those 4” I bolts with a threaded end and drove it into the ceiling joist.

                  Interesting. A drywall anchor should work. It's a big, plastic screw that metal screws drive into for support. I did that in an apartment once, no issues. Now, I use an eye hook screwed into a stud in my garage.
