  • Floyd to fight Ortiz on Sept 17th in Cowboys Stadium- Dallas,Texas (by Rico Aguirre)

Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz in September
    by Rico Aguirre

According to an insider and Boxrec it appears that Victor Ortiz and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be squaring off on September 17th at a yet to be named location. (Boxrec.com has it listed in Cowboys Stadium- Dallas, Texas)

If indeed this match comes to fruition it would revive Mayweather’s career at the very moment that the press and the fans are about to write off Mr. Money. This fight would be the most relevant welterweight Matchup since Margarito vs Cotto.

According to an anonymous insider connected with Golden Boy Promotions the match is close to being signed and details are being finalized. Furthermore, the Boxrec website lists the fight on both fighters respective records.

Though this is not the fight that the public wants, it comes pretty darn close. The matchup is quite compelling as Ortiz is coming off a dominant victory over Berto and Floyd is technically perfect. This match-up is exponentially more competitive and relevant than the fight between Pacquaio and the great aging Mosley and should do very well.

This fight would be good for the sport as Manny no longer fights hungry lions; but, instead faces opponents looking for one final payday before retiring. Manny’s management it seems has opted to protect its cash cow and avoid any and all legitimate challengers. By making this match Floyd would give the hardcore boxing community a match worthy of being televised on Pay Per View.

The matchup of styles will be interesting as it appears that Vic would be able to apply the same pressure that Jose Luis Castillo did but with superior speed, power, and footwork. Though most believe that in order to neutralize Floyd you have to work off a steady jab Castillo demonstrated that another way is consistent pressure.

Conversely, Ortiz has demonstrated some vulnerability that Mayweather could exploit. For example, Ortiz has a tendency to leave himself open to a counter attack by not transitioning back to defense in between attacks and this was evident when Berto was able to connect with some effective punches. Furthermore, Floyd has consistently demonstrated in his matches that he is an elite counterpuncher.

Overall, the match would be extremely competitive and the winner would be regarded as the king of the welterweights.

Whats going on , no old man coming of 2 losses , no CWs big rings and wrong gloves , no PEDS just a fair fight against a young hungry lion , dam what is Floyd thinking , go the the way of Plastic Man Floyd and fight Martinez at 147 at Bhop at 154 in a 30 ft ring in UFC mitts ....

Dont be so proud about a fair fight Floyd , manipulation works for Plastic Man .
