Anyone A Government Employee Or Understand The Applicant Process???

I've applied for a bunch of jobs through USAJobs in the past. Sometimes it takes a while to get a response. I've been contacted by supervisors requesting additional documentation, like writing samples and the like. Was never hired though. I was applying for jobs based on social science and public finance, etc. not park ranger or things like that.
