I'm a hardcore Atheist but it's sickening to see how many people hate people in our own country based on their religion.

Dude, she never has said anything about sharia law, you stated that. She's an American woman. Is it still freedom of religion in this country or nah? We have all just celebrated the life of Muhammad Ali, did you already forget what his faith was?

If she's a true Muslim then she believes in sharia law, she doesn't have state it and in fact most wouldn't. If she is a true Muslim than her ideology goes against what America is all about.

Americans are Americans. Black, white, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Asian, etc. Why people are offended that the mere thought of a Muslim American woman represents our country in a small moment of holding a torch is crazy. Having an issue with the author of the article, that's fine, he wrote it with flawed logic and formed a poor opinion in my view at least, but clearly there are people in this thread upset with the very idea of a Muslim American holding the torch and that's just sad at this point.
