Who are you to define what a true Muslim is? lol there obviously is no universal definition (thus the many different sects). Just as there is no "true Christians" either (how many Christians do you see living the life of the Bible 100%? I'll answer - zero because it's literally impossible).

Americans are Americans. Black, white, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Asian, etc. Why people are offended that the mere thought of a Muslim American woman represents our country in a small moment of holding a torch is crazy.
