Default MAYWEATHER-MOSLEY Second Round....What REALLY Happened?

I have read many people saying different things. The fight was fixed. Mosley gassed out. Mosley is only a 2-3 round fighter now. Just today, I saw Bernard Hopkins say that Mosley "surrendered" once Floyd weathered the storm.

Let me preface by saying that Bernard Hopkins has more boxing knowledge in the gap between his teeth than I have in my whole body. But in this instance, I respectfully disagree. Hell, I disrespectfully disagree. Shane has never been more motivated for a fight in his life than he was for the Mayweather fight. Anyone you talk to would tell you he wanted it so bad. Maybe even TOO much.

Here is what I saw, and what I think happened:

Naazim Richardson had a plan to open up Floyd's guard. Remember, Floyd fights out of a modified Philly Shell, and Brother Naaz is a Philly trainer. The shell ain't no mystery to him. He has seen it plenty. BUT (and big "but") Naazim told Shane, 24/7 viewers and the world that those openings would close up quickly.

...and that is exactly what happened.

So, SPECIFICALLY, Shane would throw to Floyd's body, knowing that Floyd (and most shell fighters) react to every punch thrown. Floyd's intent is to get hit by ZERO punches. He is defensively-oriented that way. So when Shane throws the bodyshot, Floyd reacts and Shane IMMEDIATELY fires the follow-up right hand bomb up top. Not even a one-two. More like a one- one point five!! Shane tried it in round 1 (0.40 of the video below) and swung and missed so hard that he fell off balance. He then did it again in round 2 (1:40) and LANDED it. Shane even tried it AGAIN (at 2:55) but Floyd had D'd up.

Floyd got rocked by a hard, clean shot from one of the hardest p4p punchers of this generation. How hard does Shane hit? Shane knocked out Margarito with FAR fewer punches than Pacquiao (a great puncher) landed.

So Floyd made TWO adjustments:
1: picked up his left hand, and carried it near his head
2: ignored the weak jab to his body

After Floyd got past that rough patch, Shane AGAIN tried to throw that jab to the body. Floyd countered it with a hard two-piece upstairs.

If you listen to every interview Shane gave after the fight, he tells you: Floyd made great adjustments. Neither Shane (nor Naaz) saw any other openings. In fact, if you listen to what Brother Naazim told Shane in the corner in the middle rounds, "Shane, you keep looking for that perfect shot. There is none".

Here is round two.

Shane didn't surrender. He merely couldn't RE-adjust after Floyd made his adjustments.

@ 5:20, Shane explains that Floyd didn't "make the same mistake again"

It's not possible to completely decode what Richardson's plan is for Mayweather, but he's offered hints. There was this quote, given to AllHipHop and repeated almost verbatim in an episode of HBO's Mayweather/Mosley 24/7:

Quote:
The whole thing about a fighter like Mayweather is you canít assume there would be one mode of attack anyway. My assumption that I told Shane is I predict that he hits Floyd with a right hand, and Mayweather grows wings with fangs out his mouth like a dragon. And when he turns into a dragon Iím going to tell Shane to move laterally so that the fireballs donít hit you, step on his tail, and drive shots to the body. Meaning even if he turns into a dragon weíre not going to surrender the fight. Weíll let the audience run out the dag on theater.
Iím going that deep as far as adaption for this fight in the ring.

I'm not sure what the audience/dag/theater line means, but it seems to me that the thinking is that at some point, somehow, Richardson's plan for Mosley is to hit Mayweather hard enough that Mayweather has no choice but to fight Mosley harder, which is going to create openings.

But how is that first right hand going to come? Again, there are only hints of it, because Richardson is playing his cards close to his chest. I do think it's interesting that Richardson has talked about how Mayweather never had to get into any fistfights as a youth. Is the plan to rough him up, a la Hopkins' deliberate head butt against Wright, which bloodied him and weakened his vaunted defense?

FOXSports.com: How has your training changed for this fight compared to the Antonio Margarito fight?

Richardson:
We realize it's going to be a faster fight. There will be opportunities. They won't linger. The window will close up on them. So we have to take advantage of them. If we can pick it up and maybe get to the guy by the sixth or seventh round. We have to go get it because they may not be there...

IT SEEMS THAT NAAZIM KNEW THAT AFTER FLOYD MADE ADJUSTMENTS, SHANE WOULD HAVE NOTHING LEFT.

i can see how mentally he gave up on the game plan/s as he just given his best shots and floyd didnt get knocked out.he was in limbo, confused and frustrated.

he kept trying to go for the direct approach, and didnt try to set up the same way is what i thought,he didnt try use his movement and footwork,to move round and into better angles for any smarter attacks.

age and inactivity probably didnt help, coupled with floyds focus to make sure he didnt get caught badly again, and shanes tiredness, inability to be smart and set up a new combinations that would allow him to bang floyd upside his head again.

for me in a lot of fights, shanes problem is he has too much reliance on his power.

he should get on his toes, use his speed and really box more and put more punches together more frequently.just catch em with the shots they dont see,not the massive KO punches they can see but cant stop hurting them.

but what makes him lose also makes him so dangerous, his will to win by KO,and ability to sometimes floor someone will one or 2 single bombs if they land.

Floyd wasn't going to allow him to set up the same thing.

The THIRD adjustment that Floyd made was that he took a half-step in to close the distance on Shane and SSM could get no extension on his punches. He effectively 'smothered' Shane's power.

Shane is not an inside fighter.
