  • Roach's joke of a strategy

Take a look at this vid. This may have been the last mitt session he had w/ Dumbquiao leading up to the fight. As y'all can see, it just doesn't make sense with how Roach is trying to put together on how to deal with Juanita's counter-lead right.

Point #1 - Juanita uses the counter lead right when he's backin' up, not when he's coming forward. But, in the vid below, you see Roach trying to mimic Juanita, however, Roach is walking forward throwing the lead right. Complete opposite of what Juanita does.

Point #2 - Another counter Roach came up with, and this has been their drill for a longtime, is to sidestep to Dumbquiao's left whenever he sees the lead right coming, but, in reality, Juanita doesn't execute it like that, he usually steps to his left and then fires the lead right and Dumbquiao and Roach are so stupid, they don't even practice moving to the right to cut the ring off against the right-handed fighter.

There was nothing wrong with the strategy. The gameplan was flawless. Only problem was execution. They were expecting manny to initiate the exchanges then feint when the marquez right came and counter.

Problem was the right counter was rare so pac just sidestepped into body shots.

The marquez right only came as potshots or as pac was coming in before any exchange could take place. And those werent in the gameplan.

            You're way off.

The main point in Roach's gameplan was to draw Juanita's lead out, and once Juanita makes his move, Pac is suppose to step back and counter.

#1 the problem with this was, PAC usually steps too far back and ends up not having the proper distance, and he has to reset and start all over again - This one is a PAC issue.

#2 I thought that Dumbquiao would've been better off bobbing so Juanita's lead right would go right over his head and then counter.

            - Instead, they really like the step to the left and then counter. The problem is, it takes too long to execute this move.

One thing is for sure, I'd have Dumbquiao moving to his right all night long and not follow Juanita around like a lost puppy and eating right hands in the process.

a trainer's strategy is only as good as the fighter who executes it. they ****in fought 3 times. its not like they don't know exactly how Marquez fights. Pacquiao is just not good enough to beat Marquez convincingly. doesn't matter what gameplan they have for the 4th fight. it will turn out exactly the same. another controversial decision

It depends what type of strategy. In this case, it's been proven for 36 frickin' rounds that the tactics suck !!
