I think his focus was on the economic ramifications as a whole not necessarily for his pals.
He did downplay it. He was not alone in that. And China wasn't exactly forthcoming with the information initially.

Heck I knew about the virus as early as December and that’s from watching YouTube and having an internet.
Too bad trump dismantled WHP. Could have been better prepared

Getting a briefing on its seriousness is one thing, then you'd expect all of the senators and congressman to sell their stocks if that were the case, but only a few did. Im sure most of them got that briefing but not all senators responded the same.
And not for nothing, so what? They sold their stocks, good for them, what difference would've it made to you if they kept their stocks in the market and lost 30% of it, would that make you feel better?

If you read and RT one thread this year it should be this.

Afterwards I think you’ll want to thank @realDonaldTrump for taking such decisive action against Wuhan despite nonstop hate and nonsense from the media who ran with the Dem talking points.

And one Republican senator was briefing other people about it.
All the senators would have been privy to information before it was made public.
I only used the info from the article posted.

Would have been cool if he put up a front of being confidence but doing things behind the scene that prevents this log jams of testing, medicine development, hospital beds etc. but he didn’t! He was told it was serious and didn’t even plan anything

That could be the smoking gun.

His initial response might've lagged the seriousness of the situation, but we also overestimate how much he could've done initially anyways. He was trying not to start a panic, and quite frankly the way he felt I think most of us felt as well if we are being honest, no one really expected this. And to be frankly honest, we are handling our crisis much better than Europe is, and that says something.
