  • Should the athletic commission that was in charge of Kov-Pascal II be fined?

There was an interesting and awkward tidbit on the HBO telecast for the rematch last weekend. Harold Lederman brought up the fact that Pascal's beard was illegal and that Kathy Duva (Kovalev's promoter) did indeed go to the commission about it. They had confirmed to her that they would force him to shave it off but apparently never did. He showed up to the fight with that same beard.

It was kinda awkward because after Harold brought it up, Max, BHop and Jim all stayed quiet for 10 long seconds. But regardless, if what he said was true, why aren't they being held accountable? Rules are rules are they not?

Rules are rules, they should have kept their word and forced him to shave

A small irrelevant rule like that one shouldn't matter

This is why boxing isn't really considered a sport. They don't even follow their own rules.

A very long time. You can have a beard but it has to be below a certain length. An exception can be made if the opponent allows for it. In this situation, it doesn't seem like that was the case.

I would have to see the Montreal athletic commission rule book stating that. I wouldnt just take ledermans word for it. If its a rule it should have been followed but its Kovelevs' camp who should have caused some hell over it they should have been looking for any and every thing being in pascals' home town look at the ring incident with the fury/klitschko

After a couple of rounds when Kovalev broke Pascal's nose, the beard made it look like Kovalev was battering Brother Naazim Richardson around the ring.

It's good he kept it, he lasted a few more rounds of punishment. A service to the paying fans, if you like.
