Foreman fought the better opposition. Ali and Foreman shared most of the common top fighter names. The only person Ali has that Foreman doesn't, is really Larry Holmes.

    Old Foreman has:

-Michael Moorer (undefeated and fresh off a hot win over Evander Holyfield)
    -Evander Holyfield
    -Tommy Morrison
    -Shannon Briggs (lol)

Sure he lost some of them, but this is about who had the better opposition, right?

Also, Foreman stomped over Frazier and Norton. Meanwhile, Ali had arguably robbery wins over Ken Norton and even lost to Joe Frazier, but that has no bearing over this.

Plus, if I really wanted to make a statement, some of you believe Ali was the greatest. Well, Ali never and couldn't fight himself, but Foreman fought Ali, so technically he fought the better opposition (if you rate Ali higher).
I was going to post something like this but you did all the work for me .

You forgot Shavers however , Foreman never fought him but i cant see that giving Ali the edge here .

I think Ali if you included his 60's era he has the resume .

Liston was past his prime when Ali fought him so it takes away a bit .

Who fought the better opposition ? Foreman .

I think Qawi is a good win as well.

As you stated Foreman fought Ali who is superman on here so he actually wins by default . lol

" that pushed or beat ali".........
honestly most members here don't seem to have a grasp on
"prime years". If a time frame isn't the same as the person posting they talk out of their azz!

Foreman fought 81 bouts and 19 of his opponents had losing records.
Ali fought 61 bouts and never fought a man with a losing record.
Ali has the better quality opposition and it isn't really close!

foreman also fought ali, who counts as much better opposition, leaving aside the fact ali cant fight ali.

Lets see half of Alis 1960's Era opposition since we are going to witch hunt Foreman ........

Toney Hunsuker 6 losses before Ali .

Herb Siler 1 and 1 before Ali

Jim Robinson 2 losses before Ali ( losing record )

            Toney Esperti 50% losing record

Donnie Fleeman coming off a loss and fought Ali with fractued sternum

Willi Besmanoff 4 loses before Ali

            Duke Sabedong 50% losing record

Alonzo Johnson had 7 losses out of 18 prior to Ali

            Don Warner Lost over 50%

Alejandro Lavorante lost 2 fights the year prior to Ali .

Archie Moore coming off a draw he was 46 .

Brian London lost over 50% of his fights .

Cleveland Williams would not pass any physical test today the night he fought Ali

Zora Foley age 38 past his best years .

Lets take his 3 best wins with actual prime opponents .

1.Karl Mildenberger . 2 losses accumulated before Ali

2 .Sonny Banks 2 losses accumulated before Ali

3 George Chuvalo 17 losses accumulated before Ali

Alis BEST win was Liston who best days had past .

See you cant throw stones at glass houses .

The fact is Ali AND Foreman BOTH share similar opponents when Foreman fought in the 70's . Foreman also fought Ali himself if you want a straw man angle . lol

You THEN have to look at overall TOP opponents that Ali fought in the 60's vs Foreman s 90's opponents and its pretty clear that Foreman in fact fought the better opposition .

He doesn't necessarily have the better resume which isnt the thread topic .

Ali fought and beat just about every heavyweight worth a damn over 2 decades. Foreman does not compare.

It is close. Both have all time great resumes. If Foreman had stayed retired it would have been Ali by a good margin but he didn't.
