There were several articles recently about AKG extending the lifespan of mice. Probably because it fights inflammation. I'm wondering if there are any other benefits of the kind that would cause bodybuilders to use it. The mice in the study didn't see any kind of athletic type improvement.
https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2020...pan-least-mice https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/in...oglutarate-akg sounds safe enough, I think. |

![]() ![]() This is a version available at GNC. According to the research I've dug up, it doesn't do as advertised. It isn't going to give your workouts a boost except maybe as a placebo. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21813912/ Nevertheless, I was more interested in using it for anti-inflammatory purposes (though a boost in physical performance would have been a nice plus). The more I read the more I'm convinced that inflammation in your body is a real accelerant of aging. The mice in that recent study I posted the link to just boosts my belief. I'm about half way through the jar and it seems to be effective as an anti-inflammatory, which is what I was looking for. So far as a boost in athletic performance, strictly speaking, I haven't noticed any. The boost in performance for me is being able to workout everyday with minimal muscle and joint soreness.
The link below takes you to a study and also to links for previous studies. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21813912/ |
