Do you measure your bone from the bone or from the bone?

Like people say you should measure it from the bone behind your bone its called the PC bone, so that means you take the ruler and press it against the bone behind your bone and take the measurement. The reason they do it this way is because fat people loose some of their bone because the fat covers it up, and so this way is to make it a fair bone comparison.

But to me it seems like cheating, it seems like you get a good extra inch of unjustified bone.
