I'm saying that Schaefer/Floyd had far more to do with Alvarez's success than could ever be attributed to Oscar De La Hoya.

To ignore that simple reality is a mistake.

Lol nobody knows him except for hardcore boxing fans. GBP would have given him much more exposure.

Plus beating Cotto would have been huge. Stupid move

Thurman did face Porter and Garcia. I'll be the first to say that PBC needs to keep their fighters active against top opposition, but I'm not sure who Golden Boy would have Spence face. Do they even have any name fighters at 147 or 154?

They know that, and Oscar always brings value to the network. It’s a reciprocal relationship.
The moment that the Schaefer split happened, nearly everyone sided with Schaefer and left Oscar.

For all the talk of Oscar's connections, there's a reason why he was compelled to buy the interests back from the other partners and why he basically is now on the hook for 95% of a one-fighter shop.

Folks saw Oscar for who he actually was, and the support faded away once it became clear that Oscar was the one folks were supposed to be betting their money on.

Oscar took Alvarez from Showtime and brought him to HBO (for all of this alleged backing, it'd seem odd for HBO not to give Oscar anything beyond Alvarez's fights and shows they can tie to Alvarez's fights.

its so clear that the dudes on here are de la hoya dick suckers.

why would any welterweight sign with gbp? they dont have any top welterweights in their stable. who was spence gonna fight after cotto? matthysse and ali. gtfoh

spence is right where he needs to be. 147 and 154 belong to pbc. golden boy has nothing to offer in those weight classes

Richard Schaefer was a parasite, not the brain of the company. He was removed from his position, sued for 50 million, and was banned from promoting for a period of time. He had ignored his duty to Golden Boy so he could negotiate deals that were more beneficial to Al Haymon. What you call the "brain" was actually just a weak link in the Gold chain. Richard Schaefer is a snake, and snakes really don't need much brains to be dangerous.

that snake made gbp more money while oscar was getting ****ed in fishnets, than oscar has made for gbp since scheafer left.
