  • Roy Jones And Ripped Fuel?

I have a question about this because I keep getting conflicted accounts. What did Jones test positive for exactly? Somebody in another thread said it was for the banned substance ephedra found in the original Ripped Fuel. I can tell you that ephedra is in no way shape or form close to a steroid. So anybody wanna give me the facts behind the situation?

    James Toney

Tested Positive for: boldenone and stanazolol

Toney tested positive for boldenone and stanazolol, and Batchelder tested positive for stanazolol and oxandolone, Garcia said. If they don't appeal, the boxers would be suspended one year from the date of their fight.

    Generic name: Boldenone Undecylenate

Boldenone undecyclenate is a very popular steroid. This steroid is only available legally at a veterinarian clinic. Boldenone is a highly anabolic, moderately androgenic steroid. For this very reason, it is typically taken in a stack with other steroids like testosterone if you are on a mass cycle or perhaps with winstrol if you are on a cutting cycle. The main benefit of taking equipoise is that it increases protein synthesis in the muscle cells. Boldenone gives you slower but much more high quality gains in muscle as opposed to the normal "quick" muscle gains that you would expect from a testosterone. You can expect around 3 weeks before you start seeing results and they are not going to be staggering, but will be "more permanent" than any gains you would get from any of the multiple testosterones that are available. This steroid stays active in the system longer than most of the testosterones as well. This makes equipoise a poor choice if you run the possibility of being drug tested.

    Stanazolol also known as Winstrol

Winstrol® is a popular brand name for the anabolic steroid stanozolol. This compound is a derivative of dihydrotestosterone, although its activity is much milder than this androgen in nature. It is technically classified as an anabolic steroid, shown to exhibit a slightly greater tendency for muscle growth than androgenic activity in early studies. While dihydrotestosterone really only provides androgenic side effects when administered, stanozolol instead provides quality muscle growth. Admittedly the anabolic properties of this substance are still mild in comparison to many stronger compounds, but it is still a reliable builder.

    Shane Mosley

Tested positive for "The Cream" and the "The Clear" From BALCO Laboratories.

Shane Mosley said last night that he inadvertently took two designer steroids — "the cream" and "the clear" — before his championship fight against Oscar De La Hoya in 2003 after he was misled by BALCO founder Victor Conte about what he was actually taking.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/mo...lco_stero.html

    The Cream

The Cream is the slang name given by Victor Conte to a transdermal designer steroid, containing testosterone and epitestosterone, designed by BALCO to avoid detection on drug tests. While testosterone is certainly an anabolic steroid, epitestosterone is simply an inactive epimer of the parent hormone hormone. The reason the latter would be included in “the cream” along with testosterone is to beat doping tests based on the testosterone:epitestosterone ratio.

Roughly 50% of epitestosterone production in human males is from the testes (1), the rest being produced via other pathways (2). In general a 1:1 ratio is a normal testosterone:epitestosterone ratio. Both testosterone as well as epitestosterone (3) are able to be tested for on a doping control test.

    The Clear

Unlike most anabolic steroids, this one was synthesized in the last couple of years with the intent for it to be used by athletes seeking to beat sports doping tests. It’s actually a pretty decent anabolic, basically being a cross between gestrinone and trenbolone (1) Frankly, it would have likely still been beating tests and helping athletes break records, if a sample of it hadn’t been sent by Trevor Graham (2-3), a disgruntled coach, to Don Cailin of the World Anti-Doping Agency.

    Fernando Vergas

    Tested Positive for Stanozolol.

Marc Ratner, the athletic commission's executive director, said that Vargas' post-fight urinalysis came back positive for stanozolol. It's the same drug that cost sprinter Ben Johnson his gold medal and world record in the 100 meters at the 1988 Olympics

    Roy Jones Jr

    Tested positive for androstenedione.

The post-fight drug test showed Jones and Hall both tested positive for androstenedione, which is a banned substance by the IBF. Androstenedione is a natural steroid hormone that was commonly available over the counter as a supplement until 2004 when the FDA made the over the counter sale of androstenedione illegal. Jones admitted to taking the product "ripped fuel" which was sold in GNC and every nutritional supplement outlet.Jones was able to keep his title and was not fined or suspended for the positive test. All of Jones' other post-fight drug tests before and after this fight came back clean. He ended the year by stopping Eric Harding in the 10th round of a one sided fight, once again successfully retaining the title.

    Androstenedione

Androstenedione is a steroid hormone produced in the adrenal glands and ovaries. It functions as a precursor to both testosterone and estrogen. Androstenedione ("andro") is manufactured as a dietary supplement and marketed as a natural alternative to anabolic steroids, claiming to enhance sports performance and increases muscle mass. However, some studies suggest that Androstenedione supplementation may have adverse health consequences due to its androgenic and estrogenic properties. [1-4] Androstenedione has been banned by The National Football League, International Olympic Committee, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Due to the lack of proven benefits and the potential risks, on March 11, 2004, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggested that manufactures stop distributing andro supplements. [5] In October, 2004, the Anabolic Steroid Control Act of 2004 was approved by the Senate and the House, and signed into law by President George W. Bush. As of January 20, 2005, this law is now enforceable.

PITTSBURGH--General Nutrition Centers (GNC) will begin checking customer ID to verify the shopper is 18 years or older when buying products intended for adult use. Affected GNC products include those containing ephedra, kava, melatonin, androstenedione or synephrine, which all have warning labels regarding underage usage.

more importantly.... after they banned the substance in 2004, they went back and restested his samples of 2000... and thats when they found it... the only problem was... it was a legal substance when he used it...

Its basically like this... you goto GNC today and buy a supplement to help with your training for an up and coming fight...

4 years later they end up banning the substance you bought at GNC, and try to say you cheated...

        its reedickyaluss...

Finally. GREAT post. anyone who knows anything about bodybuilding knows that 4-AD does not make you fight like jones. ( just incase any jc nuthuggers get tempted to try fight like jones ) ... 1-ad and 3-ad, also effective brothers of this compound, all of which are actaully still legal in the uk. Just the USA banned 4-ad however. Its a very mild steroid for building lean muslce mass without bloating, was origionaly classed as a PH because of its weakness. Does not compare to m1t, tren, D-bol, S-drol

abadger and great joe you could try taking it and jump in the ring with a boxer if you dont belive me

If you payed ANY attention... to ANYTHING...

"All of Jones' other post-fight drug tests before and after this fight came back clean." - Fight with Richard Hall in 2000.

So it not being available after 2004, has nothing to do with anything...

what even more so, is that Richard Hall tested positive for the same thing, only TWICE the amount Roy did... and Hall pretty much looked as bad as you can look...
