  • Why Does Britain, Japan, and Australia Drive on The Right Side of the Road?

Correction, on the "Left side of the road*****" Why do these countries continue on with this silliness?

Because it would cost a fortune to change, and there would be little benefit.

Here in Australia, with the local car manufacturing drying up, we would get some benefit from being able to source cars for importation easier if we swapped over. That's not enough reason to do it though.

Because back in the horseback days, with 90% of population being right handed, oncoming horse riders would go to the left and extend right hand showing they weren't carrying a dagger.. everyone got use to being on the left side and it stuck and also how the handshake started

Bull****, it wouldn't cost a fortune. What exactly would the expense be for manufacture cars from 2017 on with the driving wheel on the left side and telling your citizens to drive on the right side.

Silliness? Must all country follow US? You know what silly is? US still uses miles, foot, pounds, etc. as units while other countries are using metric which is better

If it was that simple then I don't think it would be a problem.

Given that Australian car manufacturing is a few months away from officially ending, which means every car from now on will be imported, there are a few people trying to float the idea of changing over.

No and I agree with you. US should've long switched to the metric system.
