Floyd wanted his sept date but part of Oscar's deal with MGM stated they were not allowed to let Floyd interfere with Canelo/GGG and stage their fight in the month of Sept. So Floyd had to either put the fight on in Aug or Oct because Sept was taken away from him. Both fights will sell regardless and Oscar after this fight is over will say everyone who was disappointed in that joke fight 3 weeks from now we have a real fight.

LOL is that bs fight on Aug. 26? Oddly I think thats more bs then this fight even if its on HBO. It'll be canceled for sure. Cotto in bed with that fat dude crying his eyes out right now probably.

And to the OP this isn't about the Sept date. This is about money. And Floyd just swiped a sh^tload of money from GBP with putting one of, if not the biggest fight in the history of boxing on like 3 weeks before his big PPV.

The casuals won't even hear about GGG vs Canelo til after Aug. 26 now & likely will have already spent their allotted PPV money for the year by then...and might be pissed off at boxing if Floyd doesn't make this fun or lose the fight like most wanna see happen.

That's not PPV it's a showcase fight on regular HBO and it airs earlier in the night long before Floyd/McGregor would fight. Fans who want to watch the Cotto fight and then order the Floyd PPV later have plenty of time to do both. Floyd and Manny have fought on nights where you have major primetime sporting events, football, playoff games ect and it hasn't hurt the ratings. Fans watch that early in the night then order the PPV. Floyd fight will probably start at midnight.

I think you're on the right path with this opinion per se, but I think you are discounting that most of the guys who make the difference between a 400k buy fight & a 1M+ buy fight will have already spent $100 or more on Floyd vs Conor & might not have another $70 to throw at GGG vs Canelo. Or they might just have had their fill of boxing for awhile in general or cuz like you say everyone is kinda disappointed after Floyd doesn't lose or Floyd doesn't give the fans a Gatti performance.

You Fagweather pole smokers are high-fiving each other because of the fight, thinking Oscar is going relapse. Thinking the Canelo/GGG is going to fail because this farce of a fight.

But much like what happened after the Gay/Pac fight, Canelo is going to put on a better performance and entertain the fans.
