November 11 is Veterans Day in the USA and Remembrance Day in Canada.
I usually watch a war movie, one that is appreciative and not degrading to the courageous men who fought for their country.
Movies like We Were Soldiers and Hamburger Hill portray war realistically without dishonoring the troops.
Others movies like Platoon, Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket may be entertaining and technically good movies, but do not do the soldiers justice, portraying them in a degrading way.
I recommend the following for November 11, all of these movies honor the troops:
American Sniper (2014)
The Hurt Locker (2008)
Black Hawk Down (2001)
Lone Survivor (2013)
Passchendaele (2008)
We Were Soldiers (2002)
The Great Raid (2005)
Sink the Bismarck! (1960)
Battle of Britain (1969)
Rescue Dawn (2006)
Hamburger Hill (1987)
Saving Private Ryan (1998)
The Pacific (2010 Mini-Series)
Band of Brothers (2001 Mini-Series)
Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944)
Run Silent Run Deep (1958)
Bataan (1943)
They Were Expendable (1945)
