I hate movies where you have to make up your own ending.

Sorry, but that is a message that did not need to be sent and keeps the movie from being the four star "masterpiece" folks like to pretend it is.

For the record, "The Big Lebowski" is the Coen Bros' masterpiece.
    Fixed it for 'ya.

You were obviously out of your element.

I can't see why people need everything laid out for them, what ever happened to a bit of imagination?

Also, TS, how the hell was TDKR ending confusing? Did they need to actually write out an explanation and superimpose it over the screen for you?

Of course, open endings at times can be due to sloppy writing or film making, but usually it's to make you think a little bit, to get into what the point of the film is. I like that, I actually feel like I've got my money's worth more when I walk away with something to think about.

The Dark Knight Rises ending was simple.

Batman fixes the autopilot on the bat-wing.

              Ejects before it explodes.

              Escapes to Europe.

              Goes to cafe, see's Alfred.

              The End.

I don't see why people regard Batman as open ended. It's clear cut.
