The last four mayors of Saint Louis have been democrats.

I think it's usually best to look at the specific city as opposed to the whole state.

Saint Louis also went for Clinton by a wide margin in 2016.

This may or may not prove anything by your own argument but I mean, a red state often has blue cities and the city is where the problem is. So, I just don't see a blue city blaming anything on its red state.

Let me start by saying, I'm not a Republican or Democrat.

But during the War on Drugs era in the 80's, the NOI was on the front line trying to clean up their own community. According to the residents, local police and politicians, they were doing a darn good job and were in fact asked to do community work across the country in other impoverished cities.

My question is, why were they criminalized and their operations/efforts to clean up their own communities shut down?

I have attended several NOI meetings, and found them to be interesting. They were deeply rooted in unsubstantiated claims of prophethood, I did like the pull yourself up by the bootstraps, and get stuff done without expecting a handout or help from the government(whitey).

I doubt there are many on this site who can claim to ave ever attended any NOI event. Why did I go? I was asked t attend by a dude I love like a brother, who is now doing life for tonnes of weed. What I liked about the meetings was the level of respect men paid to other men, the level of civility, and the overall decorum were exemplary. Basically, we all brought our “A” game, meaning we were all Alert, Attentive, and well Attired.

The message was, air at least my takeaway was, the black community(brown people too )needed to clean up our own communities. Which is all good, but how?
