  • R.I.P Nick Durandt - The Greatest Boxing Trainer In SA History.

    ****,

Breaking news. Nick Durandt just passed away a short while ago, after being involved in a motorcycle accident.

Dude produced the most South African world champions in HISTORY, and was far and away, the greatest trainer and manager South Africa produced. His fighters were always in shape, always disciplined, and would only lose if the opponent was better. They had no excuses.

He was Ndou's trainer when he fought against Floyd.

What a ****ty way to start the weekend.

Rest in peace, and God bless Nick.

Damn, sorry to read about this news. I remember seeing Durandt in 2003 right before Lennox Lewis fought Vitali Klitschko. I met Lennox Lewis, Shane Mosley, Philip Ndou and Lucia Rijker.

I remember Durandt working the mitts with Philip Ndou in the ring. I also remember as well that he was a part of Hasim Rahman's camp for the first fight against Lennox Lewis.

Sorry to hear this. May his soul be at peace.

"He produced 95 South African champions in every weight
division, 38 world champions and 27 International
champions in every credible boxing organisation"

"The list of more prominent fighters that have fallen under
Durandt’s mentorship almost reads like a who’s who of
          South African boxing.

Former WBC middleweight champion Thulani "Sugarboy"
Malinga, three-time SA and world champion, Phillip
“Timebomb” Ndou, Cassius Baloyi, Silence Mabuza, Isaac
Hlatshwayo, Jacob Mofokeng, Jeffrey Mathebula, Malcolm
Klassen, Siphiwe Nonqayi, Hawk Makepula, Zolani Tete and
Moruti Mthalane top the long list."

He was also in Hasim Rahman's corner when Rahman knocked Lennox Lewis out.

My heart broke as if I had learned of the death of a family member when I saw it on the news.
