My book, "The Sundowners: The History of the Black Prizefighter Volume 2" has a chapter on Allentown Joe Gans. Very good fighter.

i forget from where but back then alot of fighters used the 'falling step'

dempsey said gans' falling step could be heard 10 blocks down the street when his foot smacked the canvas, 'like a gunshot'
