In 2003, Wepner claimed that Stallone had promised to compensate him for using his story, but he never saw a cent of the millions of dollars the movies generated. It went to trial three times and after the third trial there was an undisclosed settlement.

Stallone was inspired by watching the fight and Rocky also has a lot in common with Frazier since he worked at a meat packing plant and is from Philly.
But the two main characters were based on Wepner and Ali.
I think Ali had a better case to sue Stallone since Creed was 100% Ali.
