stallone got the idea seeing the ali-wepner fight.

it's not a story about chuck wepner though.

When Stallone sold the original script, he contacted Wepner to tell him all about it. They kept in touch for years, and Stallone gave him a bit part in Rocky II. Unfortunately, it wound up on the cutting room floor.

In 2003, Wepner claimed that Stallone had promised to compensate him for using his story, but he never saw a cent of the millions of dollars the movies generated. It went to trial three times and after the third trial there was an undisclosed settlement.

Stallone was inspired by watching the fight and Rocky also has a lot in common with Frazier since he worked at a meat packing plant and is from Philly.

But the two main characters were based on Wepner and Ali.

I think Ali had a better case to sue Stallone since Creed was 100% Ali.

Stallone just uses bits and pieces from different boxing people/stories.

This scene from Rocky V is almost taken word-for-word from Cus D'Amato.

People turning this in to a race issue, you need to look at what makes sense for a movie. Go watch Ali or Tyson and STFU. There is a lot more to the movie than just boxing, something that would attract a wider audience, there is no point of trying to sell one guy humiliating a lot of other guys to movie critics.

If it was a waste of time how come they are already talking about awards for the film and probable oscar nominations for Bale and Melissa Leo for it.

A Corrales movie would be good, but the fact Corrales is dead. Until The rest of the Corrales family are dead, you think they would be happy to have his personal life stuff exposed and If a true story movie came about they would probably sue the writers, or only give permission to put in the parts they would like striping the movie down to being crap.

that's fine but it's still not wepner's nor frazier's story.

my whole thing was he listed rocky.

i'm wondering whether the ts thought rocky was a true story.

I love Roy but a movie about Roy would suck. What would it be about? Highlights of him dominating fighters for fiften years and then end with him beating Ruiz? Or should it show his whole career?

There is a Joe Louis movie. A movie about Sugar Ray would be good.
