  • Comments Thread For: Arum: Thurman Looked Terrible, Pacquiao Can Beat Him

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum was not impressed with last Saturday's performance by WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman. Thurman, who snapped a near two-year layoff, won a twelve round unanimous decision over Josesito Lopez at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. During the seventh round of the fight, Thurman was badly hurt by Lopez and he appeared to be on the verge of getting stopped.

I like Thurman but he needs to give that title up or defend it against someone worthy. You could make an argument for Pac but it should be Crawford or Spence. Welter won't be unified until at least the next generation of fighters.

Also just checked the current champs, how the fucc is Porter a champ?

he barely beat Swift Garcia for that belt, which Thurman gave up @ his layoff

Keith picked Lopez because he walks right in with no jab, foot work, defense or power. He is not an elite fighter, he never was, and he hurt Thurman in the seventh round.

Keith counters and moves well but he has no punch resistance. He might match well against Manny or Amir Khan but both would likely still push Keith to his limit. In the end, Spence knocks Keith, simple as that. Crawford on the other hand would inflict an eminence amount of damage, so much so that Keith would never be the same, he'd never recoup.

It shouldn't really be a shock that Thurman looked well short of his best after a long injury lay-off, and any champ deserves a bit of a gimme fight to blow off the ring rust at such times. That being said, a champ can't keep being given soft touches; surely it's a mandatory challenger or unification for him next?

What is wrong with Porter, he beat Danny for free belt.

And Porter has wins against Berto, Alexander, Danny, Broner. That is better than anything Crawford did at 147.

I see Crawford and Spence as week champs. They have potential, but that is all.

                  I think thurman-crawford would be a 50-50 fight.

Make It Happen! Probably the best fight of 2019, other than Canelo vs. Jacobs!
