  • Who is Responsible for the Bad Referees and Judges??

For the third consecutive week there has been controversy in a HBO/Showtime fight and rightfully so. Boxing fans and scribes alike are critical of bad calls or scorecards from referees and judges but who is responsible for the bad decisions?

The public continues to shake it's head in disapproval but is every case an isolated one or is there a bigger connection?

It's the commissions and sanctioning bodies faults for hiring these *******s and then not investigating/fining/FIRING them. Guess it would be a conflict of interest though seeing as how they're on the take too...

There's been a lot of outcry on this subject lately (or so it seems) but who knows when things will ever change. (I'd like to see new blood, lots of firings.)

They need to do a lot more of what they did after the Williams/Lara robbery last year, when those judges were suspended and had to be retrained and couldn't judge a main event for a long time. I say boxing keeps doing that, but with referees too and if it keeps happening with the same people, fire them.

I'm hoping to get into the pro judging this year. I had my referee certification from the ABC to start reffing the pros but I had a stroke. I loved reffing and called a good fight. But I'll have to settle for judging. As long as it keeps me in the game I'm game.........Rockin'

I was good friends with the former boxing commissioner of Foxwoods casino and he was going to get my foot in the door as an inspector before I had to move for family obligations, but judging fights is what I had hoped to do. Was hoping to ref also, but it takes a lot of time to work your way up as a professional referee, believe it or not.

Yes. I wasn't thinking about all that. If that happened more often, a change could be made.

What about fans? What can fans do? ...or is that just a ridiculous question that's going to get mocked??

Sure it takes some time. With the reffing I was like a fish in water. I was in position before they even got there. It was wierd, I knew where the fight was going in the ring before they even got there.

With the judging, it just comes natural as did the reffing.........Rockin'
