He would have one hell of a career going. Another solid seven or eight years on top. Would be similar to Wladimir's dominance of the heavyweight division for a decade. Of course, he still could have many fights left in him anyway.

Back then the top guys were Ricardo Mayorga, Vernon Forrest, Fernando Vargas, De La Hoya, Mosley.

Triple G would have done well back then, really well actually.

Probably gets beat by forest and de la Hoya. Vargas would be a barn burner but age appropriate Canelo seems more disciplined. Vargas was a party animal. So I'd choose Canelo. Mayorga gets beat all day.

Canelo didn't even start fighting jorneyman level opponents til he was 20 and most of them were smaller fighters. He could have started his pro career at 19-20, been moved a little faster and been at the same place right now. The first 3-4 years of his career was spent beating up no hopers.

Why is it impossible to imagine? Even thinking you could accurately imagine such a fundamental change involving so many variables demonstrates low cognitive abilities. No offense. That is besides the point that it is utterly pointless.

Is he raised in the Mexican system, which is geared towards raising fighters with little to no amateur background and allows them to turn pro early? Maybe he'd be the next Chavez Sr but with more power. Who knows?

What if Canelo was raised in the same system as GGG?
