Because he promotes both. Even if the Khan v Brook fight doesn't come off, it's exposure for both of his fighters. If Wilder or his team have no REAL interest in making the fight with Joshua, then it's free promotion for Wilder for no beneficial reason.

But there have been more than a few, some in the game, that say a flat fee is NEVER offered in this situation and is not to be considered a serious offer.

What I'm asking is, why doesn't he just offer him a 30%-35% split like he did with other opponents. What is it about Wilder that makes him think he isn't worth a percent split?

Wilder was talking continually about how desperate he is to get the fight and that 'money doesn't matter' so why not try the low ball? If he'd managed to get Wilder to agree to a flat fee and then promoted the hell out of the fight he'd be laughing straight to the bank after all.

If team Wilder had any real interest in making the fight they would have countered that offer. Instead Finkel said they would (but apparently haven't yet) and DiBella has since said they will not even bother. If you really want something then you fight for it... DiBella has said they will not.

Don't think either team really want the fight next.

Did you all hear the audience when Brook and Khan started their exchange? There were boos, cheers and excitement. A similar post-fight exchange between Wilder and AJ would have had an even bigger response from the audience, but then it would have contradicted Hearn's "Wilder is an unknown" narrative and above anything else he wants Wilder to stay an unknown.

I agree with you 100%. I think that's why Mayweather tried it with his phone call directly to Manny Pacquiao. Don't know how he thought he'd be able to get it around Bob Arum, but he obviously thought by dealing with Pacquiao directly that Pac would hear 40 million and be down with it instead of being smart enough to pass that up.

The thing that is odd is that after getting some flack about that offer, and after it's apparent that Wilder and his team won't go for it, they are STILL saying to the media that it will be a flat fee and nothing more. If they keep with that, there certainly won't be a fight, and I wouldn't be able to blame Wilder's side for that.

2) Wilder would have been allowed into the ring when push came to shove. Everybody knows this
3) wilder already came to watch Joshua once (against klitschko) and chickened out after seeing the fight and decided to a)not enter the ring b) not even call out the fight with Joshua while live commentating on skysports
