  • If Floyd was the lineal champ at 160 instead of Canelo...

Do you think GGG would take the fight at 155, no questions asked? Would it be more acceptable for Floyd to ask for a catchweight than it is for Canelo? Why or why not?

No doubt as he said in the past he would go down to 154 to fight him. Funny thing is a Mayweather fight would probably be less money for him. Maidana made $5 million to fight Mayweather and Berto made a guaranteed 4 million.
Reports are that Khan is getting a guaranteed $8 million for the Canelo fight and GGG would certainly make more than that even with an 80/20 or 70/30 PPV split.

Yes, of course he would. He has said many times he would love to fight Mayweather at 154 so getting an extra pound at 155 would be even better. A win over Mayweather is worth more than any world title. It's just a fantasy though. Mayweather wouldn't go higher than 152 to fight Canelo so he'll never go to 154 or 155 to face the even more dangerous GGG.

All Canelo has to do is change his name to Manny and he can have as many CWs as he likes and nobody will say anything dont even have a belt and he can still drain the champ it dont matter , if he doesnt want to bring fighters down in weight he can bring a heap of 140-7 pounders up to 155 and nobody will say anything , Manny Alvarez has a real ring to it .

It is not more acceptable but GGG would take it because it would bring more money and more exposure.

i saw that khan is getting 6 millino with no ppv. if ggg was floy's mandatory he would be entitled to a 70/30 split. the floyd-ggg fight would probably generate at least 50 to 100 million dollars so 30 percent of that is a lot lot more. money makes people do things they wouldn't normally do. for example if ggg offered ward 10 million dollars ward would take that fight withotu a doubt.

Please, no one dictates what Floyd paid any of his opponents. Just like Canelo, if GGG pulled the "I am mandatory" card Floyd would just vacate just like he said he would if Pac was named his mando by the WBC and no fight. He probably wouldn't even have to do that as he had the pull to tell the WBC who to rank. Not to mention the fact that GGG wouldn't be his mandatory at 154.
Floyd made the offer and it was take it or leave it, there were no negotiations outside of Pacquiao. He gave Cotto a token PPV percentage but most fighters would get a straight flat rate, and GGG wouldn't have been any different.
