The lineal title only matters as long as its being defended against the best fighters, same as any other title.

The MW lineage had been irrelevant for years now. Not much better than a IBO type title until GGG (the clear no.1 MW in the world) gets a shot.

GGG is not clearly number one....He hasnt fought Canelo, BJS, Quillin, Lee, or Jacobs

he fought some good middleweights like Murray and Lemmy but to say he is clearly number one is exaggerating

BJS best win is over Lee who would be GGG best opponent to date

Jacobs beat Quilin...both these guys would be GGG's best opponent

eye test wise he is great, but being number 1 is proven in the ring and he hasnt done that yet

al the number 1 middleweight stuff is premature...they did the same thing with Margarito...he was supposed to be boogeyman the most avoided ww of the 2000s......in the end, he lost to every top notch fighter he fought and a Santos...lost to Paul Williams who was a prospect at the time and no wins over top ten opposition.

I dont get all wrapped up in the ko's.....the quality of opponent brings worth to the ko

none of those guys have a better recent MW resume than GGG. Golovkins MW resume isnt great, buts its better than the rest. Add into that that he isnt really struggling at all in his fights and the fact that GGG is the clear no.1 mw isnt really even a question. Unless you are biased

        • Yes, he is clearly the number one mw in the world. His resume has little to do with it. The fact that he is avoided like the plague tells you all you need to know. The other so called top middleweights either turn down fights or stay very silent unless it's meaningless blustering on social media or in Canelos case make ridiculous demands to avoid the fight. They are scared of something. Golovkin just like any man is beatable but these guys are going to evade until someone makes him look human. *****s the lot of them.

Before I'm labaled a fan boy, I'm a fan of boxing and watching the best fights , something we rarely get to see anymore.

how do you expect him to fight those guys when those guys want nothing to do with him? are you serious? remember when quillin said the fight needed to be as big as manny floyd? saunders just ducked him a few months ago and how forget about "155". GGG's dad died and that's why his fight with lee feel. do you think before you type?

3/5 of those guy weren't even considered top MW until last year. He's going to keep moving the goal post until GGG retires.

The fact is GGG beat half the top MW by 2015 and now it's time for those guys to beat him to claim that spot.

how am i moving golad posts when you have to beat the best to be the best'

he hasnt yet...deal with it....Canelo is the champion so technically GGG is the number 1 contender...he isnt the champion, he is not the best middleweight, at least not yet

                  those are facts

                    those are facts
                    Facts:

Jacobs wasn't even top 5 until December 2015

                    BJS wasn't a top 5 until December 2015

Lemule, Murray, and Geale were all ranked top 5 when GGG beat them.

Canelo wasn't even ranked until November 2015.

GGG has been a top MW since 2013. So you're saying he would have to wait two years, wait on the above fighters to step up and than beat them to become Top dog. Sorry but that logic is stupid. He beat majority of the top MW doing his time in the division.

Canelo and his team are scared to even fight at MW, are dragging up WW, and seem set on dropping their portion of the MW title to duck GGG.

                    Pretty Solid Opinion:

Canelo has a vanity title, he hasn't fought the best in the division so his WBC title means jack**** and lineal is imaginary.
