  • Would body shots hurt less if you have a huge gut?

If a guy had a huge gut would it hurt has bad to get punched in the stomach?

Would it be advantageous for a heavyweight to grow a huge gut while still keeping their conditioning up?

Doesn't make a difference if you hit someone in the sweet spot.

          1. Yes*.
          2. No.

          You can't centralize weight loss.

*It's not significent enough in the HW's because the power level is so high. The real damage is done with rammers to the sternum. No fat will protect that. Fat will help lower belly and sides, but the thing is those shots don't hurt much.

Ask Butter Bean or James Toney they seem to never go down from body shots

I doubt it would help them take body punches any better and if they are in fighting shape they won't have a fat stomach. A boxer can't just get a big gut and have the rest of his body in shape. If he gets fat he gets fat all over. The extra weight slows him down and hurts his stamina so he gets hit with more punches to the head and body. A boxer getting a big gut to help take body punishment is a bad idea. Strengthen the stomach muscles is the way to take body blows better, not a big layer of fat.

It depends, if we're just talking about fat, than it won't really help, but if we're talking about someone with a layer of fat around a strong core I'm guessing it wouldn't really make it worse. Although other side effects are possible, as mentioned already, like slowing down, stamina issues etc.
