Agree Donaire was top 5 pfp at time.Just because he moved up and lost to larger Walters don't make Walters a better win for LOMA.

Even if we are to totally ignore all the other divisions that Donaire fought in and won world titles at he did more at 122 in about 5 fights than Russel Jr has done in his whole career.
I'm not sure he has ever even beaten a top 20 opponent outside of a shot Gonzalez.

Nearly 30 fights and his resume consists of beating a way, way past prime Gonzalez, losing to a 2 fight novice and rematching TBA 26 times.
Eye test. Also a lot of the same folk talking up the Rigo win and talking down Loma's said back then Donaire was an overrated bum and that's Russell is great and will destroy Loma.

The same with Walters but at least Walters proved he's better than Donaire and he was supposed to destroy Loma but didn't even win 2 seconds of the fight.

Gary Russel Jr has beaten nobody. People are and always were just in awe of his handspeed and constant shoeshining. People rip say BJS, Wilder etc for fighting bums this guys resume is just as bad and in most cases even worse. He easily has one of the weakest resumes of any current world champion.

Donaire was a peak, 3 weight world champion! Gary Russel Jr already proved he wasn't even the best at one weight.

He's fought one fighter (shot to bits) that was top 10 in that timeframe in the same amount of fights Donaire had became a 3 weight world champion and was a HOF lock who had beaten the likes of Darchinyan, Montiel, Nishioka, Marquez and so on.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Donaire dropping Rigondeaux? That part of the boxing master class doesn't count?

Eye test based on what? He was comprehensively outboxed and outfought by a 2 fight novice the only time he has really stepped up. Loma didn't even have to get out of second gear for the guy.

When Rigo fought Donaire, Donaire was a top 3 P4P level fighter who was a legitimate 3 weight world champion.
Russell Jr and Walters were both underdogs and the latter kept on the shelf for a full year. He looked rusty, lethargic and quit without even putting up any real effort.

People talk down Donaire but at the same time they'll talk up Walters whose only notable win is Donaire who in reality was never the same after Rigo and had absolutely no business at 126.

Loma looked better to me. He won ever round over Russell who has lightning fast hands and is a very good boxer. Nobody else could beat Russell as easily as Loma did. That was very impressive to me. It was more impressive than Rigo beating the smaller Donaire.

Do you realize that Russell is far superior than Donaire

Loma got dropped in the sixth round too, it's just that the ref didn't call it. Rigo got knocked down from a dirty clinch/push tactic.
