  • Should govt fund museums etc so that they are free to the public?

I was in Germany and found that some museums etc arent free. That really struck me as quite sad. Here, the government pays for upkeep so that the attractions [museums etc] are free for the public.

I mean the British Museum is free. How wonderful is that?

    Should ALL nations have that?

Museums aren't free in Denmark as well.. I would be nice if it was free but not if they would have to cut down on more important things like healtcare, police etc.

      No.

      Museums should fund themselves.

Its not the taxpayers job to keep them open.

Museums get a lot of breaks from the Gvt to survive. They aren't free in the U.S but the prices are very low to get in. The problem is, less and less people are actually taking the time to go and see them.

My hometown has 3 world famous museums, all 100% free. I'd protest if the council cut funding.
