Always thought he may have based his style on that of Joe Louis

        Very similar indeed

Louis and Arguello? I never thought of that. May have to review both side by side.

Also loved the class he showed both with losing to Pryor and beating Mancini. They made a pretty good TV movie about Mancini, not sure who would play Arguello in a movie about him. Probably would have to be somebody lesser known who can pull off the look with a mustache.
            Mancini tho

I sure do miss fighters like Arguello. What a class man and great champion.
Great post I always loved AA too.And could not agree more on that st8 right.Only real weakness was slow feet which made him likely to get outboxed if in with a GREAT boxer who moved well.

It was a thing of beauty... It flowed.

Pryor ****ed him up, and the hawk was on Coke. Pryor took a punch from Alexis that would have put a light heavy weight to sleep.. The hawk took it.

Tony Montana was coked up as he got lit up with machine gun fire. The hawk walked through Arguello's best shots. I believe Don King made a grip of cash.

I'm gonna look back too. I never though about comparing those two fighters.
