  • Loose or tight double end bag?

    So I got my double end bag pretty loose, which makes it move very widely when I punch it but I see a lot of fighters work their double end bag which is like super tight compared to mine.


    What is better for what? Whats the benefit of a more loose DE and the benefit of a more tighter one?

    So clearly most world fighters use a very tight DE, but why???

      Tight for me, but it's good to switch it up. I like tight because it kind of helps to force me to keep my hands moving, and also forces me not to throw everything with full power.

      If you watch a guy like Juan Manuel Marquez you see him constantly moving his hands non stop when he's punching distances, and he throws from all different speeds and angles. That's from heavy use of a tight double end bag and just letting his hands go.

          I didnt ask in the last thread why all pros use tight ones.

          I got quite confused, because majority pros use tight ones but in the youtube comments people are hating Pacquiao for using a tight heavy bag....

          And the last thread was more about overall information on DE

            similar tension with the bradley video


            better loose imo

            accuracy, timing, head movement

            don't get to work on none of that when it's tight as ****, like in those videos.

              That's around where I keep mine. I use bungees that let it travel more, but with about the same rebound speed. Brilliant for head movement and working combos. I like a good sized double-ender that you can really lay into. Get a muscular workout in addition to cardio, and skill training of course.

                I used to switch it up. I would like it to be tight usually. But lose is good to simulate awkard opponents, or highly mobile rangy guys.
