Mike Tyson for 80% of his career never lifted weights, when he came out of jail in 1995! that is when he started to implement body building routines.
Here is a sample of a prime Mike Tyson's routine.
6AM Some jogging then shower then sleep again *
- 10AM Gets up, eats breakfast
- 12PM Sparring for 10 rounds
- 2PM Lunch (Steak, Pasta and Fruit Juice)
- 3PM Training in ring then Aerobike for 1 hour
- 5PM Resistance training, 2000 situps, 500~800 dips, 500 pushups, 500 shrugs 30KG, Training neck for 10 mins
- 7PM Dinner (Steak, Pasta and Fruit Juice)
- 8PM Aerobike for 30mins then watch TV.. sleep
* After the jogging,
- 10 x jumping up on box, plyometrics.
- 10 x various sprint training.
Note: there is nothing wrong with weight lifting, its just that half of the exercises such as bench press, and stationary exercises are completely useless and don't transfer over into boxing.
